Wakefield's refurbished market food hall will officially open for business this weekend.
On Saturday, traders will stock the purpose-built food hall with fresh fish, African spices, fresh meat, bread and other bakery treats, Italian delicatessen specialities, artisan cheeses, fruit and vegetables, sandwiches and hot paninis.

"Everyone involved in the project is looking forward to seeing the food hall back in action and facing a great future.

"We have every confidence it will quickly become a focal point for people visiting the town, doing their weekly shop or looking for that little something extra to make a special meal. Traders have supported the redevelopment and we are delighted to be welcoming many new stall holders who have invested time and money in creating what will be a busy, vibrant and tasty shopping experience."

Central to the food hall, which is next to the indoor market on Union Street, is a state-of-the-art demonstration station. Complete with microphones and television screens the station allows for full cookery demonstrations.
