Xscape Castleford roadworks cause long tailbacks

Roadworks around Castleford's Xscape leisure complex have been causing long tailbacks.

It is part of an £8m project to repair damaged roads, expected to go on for the next 38 weeks.

The project has stopped traffic turning right at the Colorado Way and Park Road junction and will affect motorists using junction 32 of the M62.

Motorists leaving the complex are being diverted to the roundabout near Asda on Leeds Road.

A Wakefield Council spokesman said: "Any through traffic between the M62 junction 32 and the A639 Leeds Road at the Asda roundabout is being advised to avoid the route via Xscape and Colorado Way.

"People are also being reminded that Xscape, the Junction 32 shopping outlet and businesses in the surrounding area are all open as usual."
