Group scout leader John Williams said: "This is a project for all that will hopefully bring the community together to achieve something worthwhile and to build a community spirit that will lead on to many more projects that the residents of Lofthouse can achieve together as they build new friendships within their local area."

The £5000 came from a £15,000 fund secured by Lofthouse from Leeds City Councils 'Bright Ideas' initiative, which provides funding for community projects.

Work is expected to begin in the next few months.
