But March, who took over mid-way through the campaign, said he is "satisfied" with how his team performed overall.

"Everybody has improved, week in and week out," he said.

"We were disappointed with the way we finished. We saved our worst performance since I've been here for last, but Oldham deserve a bit of credit – they totally out-played us in every department."

March – who is staying on next term – added: "I have been talking to the club for a few weeks about my own contract, players we want to retain and players we'd like to offer contracts to from other clubs.

"We have already started talking to our own players and hopefully that will be sorted out in the next few weeks, then we can start rebuilding for next year.

"We have got a lot of young players who are willing to learn and want to improve.

"If we can retain most of the current squad and add a couple more experienced players, I'm sure we'll go one step better next year."

March has already begun his preparations for next year by re-signing Darren Robinson and Stuart Young on new one-year deals.
