Hunslet Hawks coach Paul March hailed his new recruits from York after Sunday's 34-24 victory at home to Blackpool.

Wayne McHugh, Scott Woodcock and Danny Ekis all made a big impression, with McHugh among the try scorers.

The victory saw Hunslet leapfrog Blackpool in the Championship One table and March felt his new trio made a big difference.

"They added a new dimension," said March. "Wayne McHugh slotted straight in and scored a nice solo try.

"Scott Woodcock and Danny Ekis are missing a bit of match fitness but they had a couple of good stints that will do them good."

Now up to fifth, Hawks return to league action a week on Sunday with the visit of Swinton Lions.
