Middleton Park FC battled in vain against a strong Farnley CC side.
Middleton Park FC 1 New Farnley CC 5* Click here to sign up to free news and sport email alerts from Middleton Today.The game kicked off with Middleton Park dominating the game by playing some very attractive football, but Middleton were dealt a blow by the referee early on when a Farnley striker slipped in the penalty box, the referee thought he had been fouled and pointed to the spot, Farnley then slotted home to go 1-0 up.

A magnificent display of football saw Rodney Adams have a clear run on goal only for the referee to blow for half-time.
Middleton came out in the second half knowing they were up against the referee, but the referee failed twice to let advantage to be played by Middleton when they were clear on goal after some bad challenges. Middleton were getting very frustrated and Simon Barraclough received a yellow card for decent. Farnley then grabbed a second goal, which shouldn't of stood as it was placed in the net by the strikers hand.
The referee continued to be indecisive and gave every 50-50 decision
Farnley's way, which infuriated the Middleton personnel. Farnley then dominated the game with two more goals in quick succession, to bring the score 4-0. When the referee gave a free-kick against Middleton for what seemed a perfectly timed challenge, Simon Barraclough received his second yellow card for questioning the referee's decision, the Middleton captain was very unhappy to be sent off and his team mates were left disappointed with the refereeing display. Farnley then bagged their fifth of the game. Middleton replied with a brilliant headed goal by Carl Palmer from a corner.
