Middleton led 1-0 for most of the first half, until Carl Palmer finished a strong run through the Sporting Armley defence to slot away the second of the game, 2-0 to Middleton. Just before the half time whistle Sporting scored to make it 2-1 at the break.

After half time Middleton pilled on the pressure and punished Sporting Armley for poor defending, Darren Watson with a fierce strike to make it 3-1 to Middleton; soon after Darren Watson received a Yellow Card after swearing about a decision, the referee giving a free-kick against Middleton for fouling a player, when in fact the player had dived for the ball, missing the ball, he fell to the ground, which made the referee think he had been fouled.

Some sloppy defending by Sporting gifted Middleton a Penalty, Darren Watson missed from the spot twice after the referee ordered a re-take, due to the keeper's movements. Sporting started to find their feet and scored soon after the penalty misses, taking the score to 3-2, Middleton continued to pile on the pressure, but failed to finish many chances in front of goal.

Sporting then brought on their super sub Iain McBurney, who finished the game by scoring 2 goals in close succession to take the game to Sporting Armley, although Middleton continued to pile on the pressure until the final minute, they couldn't get the ball in the net.

Squad: Steven Rose (GK), Gareth Robinson (LB), Stefan Beer (RB), Simon Bradley (CB), Max Nielsen (CB), Simon Barraclough (LM), Nicolas Egan (RM), Daniel Kittle (CM), Darren Watson (CM), Carl Palmer (CF), Rodney Adams (CF). Subs; Joao Lopes, Aaron Firth, Martin Evans and Ben Heath (Unused Sub)
