Middleton Park FC played some of the best football in weeks, but still failed to claim the win.

Martin Evans and Rodney Adams with goals early on gave Middleton a 2-0 lead, but Middleton failed to hold the midfield after Dinny Momme was substituted for Simon Johnson due to injury.

After half time Sporting pilled on the pressure and punished Middleton for poor defending, Sporting taking a 3-2 to lead; soon after Sporting scored another to go 4-2 up, but Middleton continued to battle, a fantastic finish from Jarvis Hamlet making it 3-3. Middleton gained a massive confidence boost when Scott Howey went down in the box and
Stefan Beer made the score 4-3 from the spot. Middleton continued to pile on the pressure and another penalty was awarded after Rodney Adams was pulled to the ground, again Stefan Beer stepped up to make the score 5-3.
Some sloppy defending by Middleton gifted sporting another two goals to make the score 5-5 with 5 minutes to go, the cup match was destined for extra time until Gareth Robinson fouled an oppondent in the penalty area.
Sporting took their chance from the spot to make the final score 6-5.
