A gang of yobs threatened three young Belle Isle cyclists before riding off on their bikes.
It happened when 15-year-old Joshua Brockley and two friends had cycled from their homes in Belle Isle to the skateboard park opposite South Leeds Sport Centre, on Saturday, May 3.

While there, they were approached by a group of older youths who t
hreatened them, ordering them to hand over their bikes. Joshua refused only to be attacked by one of the older boys.

His dad Lee, a 36-year-old school voluntary worker, said that his son was pushed off his bike but quickly got up and managed to fight off the older boy.

However, he was then attacked from behind. "Joshua was knocked to the ground and then they put the boot in," his father said.

His two pals handed over the bikes. The gang then rode off with the three bikes – Joshua's BMX and his friends' mountain bikes.

Lee added: "The bikes must be worth at least £600. My son ended up with cuts and bruises to his face but it could easily have been worse. The lads who attacked him could easily have had knives."

Lee said that as the older lads disappeared with their bikes, Joshua and his mates ran over to the nearby Golden Lion pub where a man called police for them, on his mobile.

A police spokesman said they were appealing for anyone with information to contact them by ringing 0845 6060606 and asking for Holbeck division.
