Hunslet Community Gala 2009: Come and join in the fun

This year's Hunslet Community Gala promises to be bigger and better than ever before.
Organised by Hunslet Festival the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 27, at the Recreation Ground at Grove Road and Church Street, from 11.30am.

Organiser Steve Thompson told Middleton Today: "There will be lots of new attractions this year in addition to the normal community stalls."

The family zone arena will feature Keldon School of Dance, Lynbar Majorettes and cheerleaders The Tailwaggers.

There will be a showcase from The Hunslet Club, as well as karate, gymnastics in the sports zone arena.

Ans the children's zone will feature Punch & Judy with Prof Robanti, kids games, glitter art, and face painting.

In the Workshop Zone both adults and children will be able to learn theatrical sword fighting with Richard Brighton

Rumple the Clown will also be holding a Circus Skills Workshop

The line up for the music zone includes indie band The Response and Irish Dancers

The event will also feature the semi-final for the I Love South Leeds Junior Superstars.

The activities zone will feature
kiddie go-karts, bouncy obstacle course and slide as well as bungee trampolene, classic cars and The Youth Bus.

The Elizabeth Svenden Trust will also be bringing some of their Donkeys along.

In the refreshment zone there is a varied selection of food and drink.

The event is also supporting the Marie Curie Cancer Care Charity, by holding a 'Blooming Great Tea Party' with the Tea donated by Ringtons.
